Meet The New Chair of The GRCA

Richard studied Civil Engineering at Bristol University before joining us at Power-Sprays Ltd in 2011 – a pivotal first step into the GRC industry. He has since progressed to become Operations Manager at both Power-Sprays and our associate company, Fibre Technologies International.

Led by Ian White, Power-Sprays was one of the founding members of the GRCA. Our company focuses on the manufacture of specialist GRC production equipment, along with supplying raw materials through Fibre Technologies. Consistent development in these fields have led our companies to become market leaders, now serving GRC manufacturers in over 100 countries.

Alongside his role at Power-Sprays and Fibre Technologies, Richard has been actively involved with the GRCA. His involvement began in helping organise the 2015 Congress in Dubai. This progressed into a position on the council in 2021 which eventually resulted in Richard being elected as Vice Chair in 2023. Now, only 14 years after entering the GRC industry, he has been elected as Chair.

Richard’s role as Chair will involve overseeing the technical and marketing faculties of the GRCA, along with the other council members, ensuring that the Association is proactively orientated to meet the ever-evolving needs of the construction industry.

As stated in Richard’s interview, featured in the GRCA newsletter:

‘To reinforce GRC’s position as the composite of choice for advanced construction projects and establish GRCA membership as a mark of quality, we’ll continue to ensure members meet the Association’s standards to gain certification. This way we can ensure consistent industry-wide product quality, allowing construction companies, façade consultants and architects to collaborate with manufacturers with confidence.

The GRCA is a growing global organisation, and I aim to sustain this momentum. With the 2026 GRCA Congress taking place in India – a country known for its booming construction industry – we hope to recruit more GRC companies in the area, as well as across the wider Pacific and Middle Eastern regions.’

This role and associated responsibilities will run alongside Richard’s existing role at Power-Sprays and Fibre Technologies. This way, he remains fully committed to supporting our companies and clients, as well as the wider GRC community.

GRC is now recognised as more than a list of impressive mechanical properties; it’s gained a reputation as a suitable component for some of the world’s most spectacular structures. It’s about time.

As the GRCA transitions into a new era, so does the GRC industry. Products are becoming more refined and applications more advanced than ever. There is no better time than now to start using this remarkable material.
